The Waterberg is home to one of the three largest populations of rhino left on the planet. Sadly, poaching continues to be a huge threat to the rhino’s survival.
“Ride for Rhinos” is an annual 300km charity ride over 7 days in the Waterberg, South Africa to raise funds for Rhino conservation.
Due to Covid-19, the 2020 and 2021 charity rides had to be canceled resulting in much-needed funds not being raised with potentially devastating effects on the rhino in the Waterberg region.
In an effort to help raise funds in 2021, a global “Ride for Rhinos” challenge was established, with riders coming together from different countries as a virtual team to try and ride 8,000 miles – the distance to South Africa from the UK.
The charity behind the ride is called Waterberg Rhino UK and raises funds for the security and protection of rhino, while also supporting community projects that help bring opportunity and improve prosperity.
